Snowmaking Nightly - Excellent Conditions

Snowmaking Firing on Whitewolf

Feb 13, 2024

Wisconsin's largest snowmaking system is firing back up everynight this week with temps in the 20s and even low teens late week!

Snowmaking Overnight

Winter returned somewhat with overnight temperatures returning into the 20s and later in the week teens which will give us a nice little window to make snow overnight while our groomers look to work that new snow into our terrain.  This midweek operation will only help to build up base depths and refresh terrain going into the busy President's Day Weekend as into spring skiing and riding.

Groomed Terrain

Skiing is Fantastic

There might not be much snow out there in the state believe us we have plenty here thanks to our huge snowmaking efforts in January.  Conditions are in dressed in their prime mid-winter dress and are groomed meticulously each night.  Don't take my word for it:

Facebook 2/13: Eric Krueger Thanks to the crew at Granite Peak Ski Resort.! We skied Sunday and honestly conditions were very nice.! Considering the amount of snow that Wisconsin has... Way to go!!!

Facebook 2/12: Paul George Lytie Skied there yesterday, the conditions were awesome. Great Job
Robert Piatt Your team has done an amazing job this year with all the curve balls that Mother Nature has thrown at you!

Google 2/2:  Jody Striegel Our family of 4 loves Granite Peak. We discovered it last year and decided to buy season passes, so we could get access to Snow River and Lutsen too. Many of the runs are more challenging than other WI resorts and their lifts and lines are quick. Also the staff is friendly, the lodges are cozy, and the food is good.

Fun on Friday Night

A fun, spectator friendly event is back on Friday night as we host the Show Us Your Tricks Rail Jam at the bottom of Aspen Terrain Park.  Competitors go head to head in this competition in which the goals are to amass as many beads as possible from judges to win the King and/or Queen of the event.  Competition goes down between 5pm and 8pm!

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead March has some of the best skiing and riding in my opinion.  The sun is out longer (Dasher will spin until 5pm starting Friday night for the rest of the season!) and the snow can get nice and carvable by mid-day after early morning fast groomers.  March also brings in a ton of events check out all the fun still slated on the schedule.  Now is a great time to plan some late season getaways wrapped around kids spring breaks!

  • Demo Day & Season Passholder Appreciation - March 2nd
  • Badger State Games - March 9th
  • St. Patrick's Themed Family Festival & Fireworks - March 16th
  • Gatorade Grom Jam Finals - March 17th
  • Pond Skimming - March 30th
  • Easter Egg Hunt - March 31st
  • Cardboard Cup - Sled Race - April 6th

We're Poised for a Long Winter

I know it might not have been the winter we were all expecting but thanks to our snowmaking power we intend to stay open daily through April 7th and there is plenty of time for some natural snow to fall between now and then.

I hope you'll join us out on the slopes for some family fun!

Thanks as always for reading my blog - I hope to see you out on the hill.
